CLEVELAND: City Limits Nightclub w/OTIS CLAY!

Otis Clay will be playing Friday night at the City Limits Nightclub in Cleveland at 9pm, $10 admission. The club is at the north end of town on Highway 61.  The event is sponsored by State Senator Willie Simmons, owner of the Senator’s Place in Cleveland, located on the south end of town on Highway 61. Dinner will be served there from 5-9pm, and will also be available after the show.

JACKSON: Central MS Blues Society ‘Blues Challenge’

Blues lovers, it’s time for the Central Mississippi Blues Society’s Band Challenge to choose the band we will send to represent us at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Feb. 1-5.  It’s so important that we have a large and enthusiastic crowd for our Blues Challengers – won’t you please help us make our competing bands welcome?  The Band Competition will start promptly at 8PM on Monday, October 18, 2010 in order to give all the bands a chance to perform, and we’ll still have time for the Central MS Blues Society Band, with King Edward and friends to perform for us later on in the evening.
 
Bands competing for the CMBS 2010 Band trophy and a place in the 2011 International Blues Challenge are:

    *  Dr. D and his Band.
    *
      Jarekus Singleton Band
    *
      Stevie J and the Blues Eruption

As usual with Blue Monday at Hal & Mal’s in downtown Jackson, the bar opens at 7, admission $5 ($3 for CMBS members – why don’t you join – we’d be proud to have you!).  Remember, the “battle of the bands” starts promptly at 8 PM.  Please come, and bring a friend or two – we need you to help give our CMBS competitors a huge welcome and let them know we appreciate what they do to keep the blues alive in Central MS!
