MARKS: 2019 Mules and Blues Fest – 5th annual!

MULES & BLUES FEST
Marks, MS

mules.bluesfest.org
Fri.-Sat., 10/4-5 – BLUES/SOUTHERN SOUL MUSIC with Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Miss Jody, Jwonn, Jay Morris Group and Steve Azar.
Sat., 10/5 – GOSPEL MUSIC with George Dean & the Gospel 4, Delta Big 4, Ned Johnson & Jonestown Crusaders and Ivory Sims.
PLUS, 5K run/walk, mule/wagon rides, food and more!

FEST is Quitman County’s 5th Annual MULES & BLUES FESTIVAL, commemoratingthe Mule Train of 1968 from Marks MS to Washington DC in support of The War on Poverty.

FEST: Free Admission. Fun for all ages. 5K Walk/Run – this year benefits Lupus Fdtn. Live Gospel groups – morning.
Live Blues & Rock artists – all afternoon. Saturday October 5.
(As FEST Planning Committee Publicity Chair I would really appreciate your forwarding this email to all Your Contacts and Social Media Friends.)
People come from near and VERY far away for FEST music and eats, as well as for Civil Rights Tours in the Mississippi Delta Heritage zone. And some come for a snapshot of their ride on the FEST Mule Wagon!
The Marks MS AMTRAK stop is one block from the FEST. Train arrives in Marks the morning of FEST between 8 and 9 o’clock, headed South from CHICAGO & MEMPHIS. For a one day trip, train leaves Marks between 8 and 9 o’clock in the evening, headed back up North to MEMPHIS & CHICAGO. (This is the 7-day-a-week schedule for the famous “City of New Orleans” AMTRAK service.)
The Grand Opening for the newest business in Marks is Fri & Sat – Sept 6 & 7 @ 6pm – one block from Courthouse Square after the FEST. Visit DINO MILLS’ AUCTION COMPANY.
There was a super Auction House, for a couple of years, on Hwy 6 West of Marks. It was neat, fun, with a lot of interesting “stuff”, and “everybody” went, for maybe 2 years. (I featured the Auction House in an article with photos in my “Q” MAGAZINE.) Happy to see a new adventure here!
Oh! How could I forget!?
At the FEST, there’s a lot of BBQ
by locals, yummy Southern foods, games, and a variety of merch vendors. A special ex-pat from Lambert MS brings his crew from Chicago’s “Charlie’s #1 Ribs” – delicious ribs, chicken and Polish! There’s Something Fun for Everyone at the 5th FEST on October 5th !
Thank you for passing this on!
