Black LP MS Delta Roundtable: I Am the Blues

The Black Legacy Project will travel to the Mississippi Delta to explore the history of the Blues, it’s important connection to the region, and its global impact on contemporary music. Join us for a roundtable discussion analysizing the songs “I Am the Blues”, written by Willie Dixon and performed by Muddy Waters, and “Poor Man’s Blues”, written and performed by Bessie Smith. Roundtable participants will unpack the enormous contributions of Black musicians to the American soundscape via the blues, often overlooked and at times appropriated.
