The two acre Mississippi John Hurt Museum site in Avalon, MS is wherethe Mississippi John Hurt Music Festival is held once a year, on Labor Dayweekend. The festival is emceed by Mary Frances Hurt, Mississippi JohnHurt’s granddaughter. The late Art Browning, musician and Carroll Countynative, was also instrumental in the creation of the festival, servingas co-organizer and Museum curator for many years.
