100 MEN HALL PEOPLE PROJECT

Bay Saint Louis, MS – The 100 Men Hall will host a photography project called
The 100 Men Hall People Project for one week in February during Black
History Month.
The 100 Men Hall invites the public to stop in and have their photo taken in a
photography project that seeks to strengthen the heritage identity between the
community and the historic 100 Men Hall.
This project is made possible in part by a grant from the Mississippi Gulf Coast
National Heritage Area. The Hall has selected fine arts photographer Gus Bennett
to photograph 365 Bay Saint Louis and people who have a history with the 100
Men Hall.
The Hall invites any person with a history with the 100 Men Hall to come have a
photograph taken by Gus Bennett starting Sunday, February 10 through
Saturday, February 16. The Hall will be open all day during this week and no
appointment is necessary.

Gus Bennett
Bennett is a fine arts photographer who
has documented the lives of New
Orleans Black citizens for more than 25
years. His most recent series, “The New

Each photograph will include a short text block based on the subjects’ memories
of and how their identity was influenced by their relationship to the Hall. On
completion, these photographs will be shared with the community in the
following manner:
• One subject on one day for a year will be displayed on social media, the
front marquis, and collected our website and shared with local media.
• Movable kiosks will be installed permanently inside the Hall to display a
rotating selection of the photographs with text blocks.
