• THURS 6/17, 7PM – FREE public screening of “M for Mississippi: A Road Trip through the Birthplace of the Blues” at the Triangle Cultural Center in Yazoo City. This Blues Music Award-winning road-trip movie features Bentonia’s own Jimmy “Duck” Holmes and Blue Front Cafe, among a dozen other authentic Mississippi blues musicians. Hailed as “Easily one of the best documentary films made about blues in years” by UK’s Blues & Rhythm magazine. 94 minutes.
• FRI 6/18, 5:05PM – “Unwind after 5” at the Blue Front Café in Bentonia, MS. Jam sessions with Jimmy “Duck” Holmes and other local favorites.
• SAT 6/19, 9AM – Annual BENTONIA BLUES FESTIVAL on June 19th celebrates the world-famous “Bentonia School” of blues with this wonderful yearly event in downtown Bentonia, Mississippi, in front of the historic Blue Front Cafe. This year’s event features Brian Sivils, Alphonso Sanders & Bill Perry, Eden Brent, JIMMY “DUCK” HOLMES, Roosevelt Roberts, Jarekus Singleton, Dexter Allen, Bobby Rush! Plus “food, games, arts & crafts…” starting at 9am. Blues music 1pm till.
