CLARKSDALE: Rock and Blues Museum Benefit at Ground Zero Blues Club

SAT 9/19 – ROCK & BLUES MUSEUM BENEFIT w/Theo D and Watermelon Slim!

Clarksdale, Mississippi’s ultra-cool Rock & Blues Museum is having a benefit next SAT 9/19 @ Ground Zero Blues Club, y’all! Please attend if you can, or if you can’t make it, please consider an online donation to the 501c3 nonprofit museum @ www.blues2rock.com. It ain’t easy to cool/heat such a big building and keep it open to the public 11am-5pm, 7 DAYS A WEEK.

Collector/musician/fan Theo Dasbach opened his original version of the museum in The Netherlands in 1997 and moved (and expanded) it to Clarksdale in 2005. I like to say the Rock & Blues Museum is “a crazy Dutchman’s lifelong, obsessive collection of blues and rock memorabilia assembled chronologically in a cool old building” at 113 E 2nd St, downtown.

It’s just 5 bucks take the tour and see a ton of really cool stuff! The tour starts you in the 1920s-30s when blues was first being recorded… takes you through the 50s when Mississippi musicians were helping turn blues into rock ‘n roll… and forward into the British Invasion when blues fans/musicians overseas reintroduced America to our own music… and so on and so on. Newer exhibits include pieces and parts off Big George Brock’s former tour bus (including a nice mural of the big man’s face on the back bus door).
