INDIANOLA: BB King Museum holiday events

We invite children and their families to spend the day with us on Saturday, December 17th, 2011 for holiday celebrations.

The day begins at 10:00 a.m. with a hands-on workshop led by local artists in our AT&T Learning Center. We’ll be making Christmas tree ornaments – one for the tree in the Museum lobby and one to take home. The Museum will provide the supplies and cookies – participants bring creativity and holiday spirit.

“30 Years from Now”
Saturday, December 17th at 12 p.m.
Don’t miss The Sunflower County Freedom Project’s presentation of “30 Years from Now,” an original fictionalized account of school desegregation in 1965, loosely based on the Carter family in Drew, MS. The play focuses on two girls – one white, one black – as they struggle to become friends in such a charged atmosphere, and it raises questions about the progress in education that has been made since 1965. This event FREE. For more information, contact Dr. Dina Bennett at 662-887-9539 ext. 227.

Joy to the World – A Christmas Concert
Saturday, December 17th at 4 p.m.
Our annual Christmas Concert is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit! This year, the program will showcase a variety of music, song, and dance performances from the Lizzie Coleman Chorale and the Solomon Middle School Elite Singers from Greenville, the Temple of Deliverance Band and the Carver Elementary Praise Dance team directed by Denise Whitley, among others.

“Live at Lucille’s”
Every Saturday at 12 p.m.
Our Saturday Blues performances will continue throughout December. Stop by and enjoy live music by local bluesmen such as Bill Abel, Rodney “Po’ Boy” Ashford, Bill “Howlin’ Madd” Perry, and Casey Roberts. But you never know who may stop by or join in on the fun – our gift shop employee, Tashe Gardner, often joins our artists on vocals or the drums. It’s always a great time! If you would like to be added to our rotation of musicians, contact Jack McWilliams at 662-887-9539.
