The B.B. King Museum is thrilled to welcome the Yocona International Folk Festival for its first appearance in Indianola on Wednesday, August 4th. Groups participating in this year’s festival will present a children’s workshop at the Museum at 10:00 a.m. An evening performance will be held at the Mid-Delta Arts Association Theater just down the street from the Museum at 7:00 p.m.
This unique show will include performances by dancers and drummers from Finland , Singapore , and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Yocona International Folk Festival brings the world to North Mississippi . As Mississippi’s first annual international folk festival, the event celebrates the world’s cultural heritage with exciting folk music and dance performances as well as captivating vernacular arts and crafts from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, South and North America.
The morning children’s workshop is free and open to the public. Please contact Jack McWilliams at the Museum at 662-887-9539, ext. 227, to sign up so that we may know how many people to expect.
Tickets for the evening performance will go on sale to MDAA Patron ticket holders on Tuesday, July 27 and to the general public on Friday, July 30. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 18 and can be purchased by contacting the Crown Restaurant at 110 Front Street in Indianola or calling the restaurant at 662-887-4522.
