Storytellers Ball 2012 “Blame It On the Blues”
Mississippi Blues Theme On Tap For 2012
JACKSON, MS – The Greater Jackson Arts Council (GJAC) announcesBLAME IT ON THE BLUES, the Seventh Annual Storytellers Ball, forThursday, August 9 at the Mississippi Arts Center in Downtown Jackson.
“This is our annual fundraiser, and akick-off to the annual arts season,” said Janet Scott, GJAC ExecutiveDirector. “Plus, it just happens to be one of the best parties of theyear—fun, diverse, and full of amazing music.”
This year’s blues extravaganza willsee the creation of a one-night-only all-star blues jam band featuringarea favorites like Fingers Taylor, Big Will Divine, Scott AlbertJohnson, Chris Gill, King Edward, and many more. The night will alsoinclude a Shake Your Moneymaker Silent Auction of themed packages andblues-themed art and a down home soul food feast.
Previous Storytellers Ball themes have included Casablanca, The Great Gatsby, James Bond, Motown, Cabaret, and the decadent 80s.
GJAC is the official arts council for the City of Jackson and HindsCounty. Proceeds from the Storytellers Ball benefit the agency’sflagship Grants for the Arts Program, which directly funds approximately100 arts and cultural projects each year.
