1/31-2/4 – International Blues Challenge (IBC)

The dates for the 2012 International Blues Challenge (IBC) will be January 31 – February 4, 2012. The competition will be held in Memphis, TN in the Beale Street entertainment district. Tickets became available on October 1. IBC will begin with the FedEx International Showcase (Jan 31). The Challenge has been expanded to a four day format. Wednesday and Thursday night we will hold the quarter finals (Feb 1-2), Semi finals will be held Friday night (Feb 3) and concluding with finals in the Orpheum Theater (Feb 4). The Blues Foundation will honor 17 individuals and organizations — including classic Clarksdale juke joint Red’s Lounge — with its 2012 Keeping the Blues Alive (KBA) Award during a recognition brunch (10am) Saturday, February 4, 2012, in Memphis, Tennessee. Each year, The Blues Foundation presents the KBA Awards to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to blues music. The KBA ceremony will be held in conjunction with the 28th International Blues Challenge (IBC).
