The Otha Turner Family Annual Picnic takes place this weekend inSenatobia and features the unique sounds of the Rising Star Fife andDrum Band. Formerly headed by Turner (who died in 2003), the group isnow led by his granddaughter, Sharde Thomas.
The event is atOtha’s place on 924 O.B. McClinton Road in Senatobia, located east ofGravel Springs Road. The event starts Friday at 5 p.m., and while theofficial starting time Saturday is likewise 5 p.m., there’s usuallyplenty of activity by 1 p.m.
