SUMNER: Opening of restored Tallahatchie County Courthouse w/blues students

We will open doors at 11amfor folks to take a look. But the event does not start until 2pm,followed by talks by senator Thad Cochran and others at 3:15. Followedby a reception at 4:00pm inside the interpretive center.

TheThacker Mountain Radio Hour will perform a special show in Sumner, MSon Saturday, March 21 at 2 pm as part of the activities to commemoratethe opening of the newly restored Tallahatchie County Courthouse. Guestsfor the one-hour program, to be held in the courtroom of thecourthouse, will be R&B singing legend Dorothy Moore, Pulitzer Prizewinning-photographer Alysia Burton Steele and the Tutwiler CommunityCenter Student Blues Band. Admission is free and the show will berecorded to be later aired on Mississippi Public Broadcasting. Hosts ofthe show will be Oxford writer Jim Dees and the Thacker house band, theYalobushwhackers led by Delta musician/instructor, Dr. Alphonso Sanders.The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour can be heard in the Sumner area everySaturday at 7 pm on 90.9 FM Greenwood.
