Jackson, Miss. – The Yellow Scarf, Jackson’s only listening-room, proudly presents
American jazz saxophonist and music educator “Kidd” Jordan, a prominent sculptor of the
New Orleans Jazz sound.

Edward “Kidd” Jordan, a Louisiana native, performs on tenor, baritone, soprano, alto, C-
melody and sopranino saxophones, as well as contrabass and bass clarinets. He has
performed and recorded with a wide selection of musicians in styles ranging from R&B to
avant-garde jazz, including Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, William Parker,
Alvin Fielder, Archie Shepp, Fred Anderson, Ornette Coleman, Ellis Marsalis, Cannonball
Adderley, Ed Blackwell, and Cecil Taylor.

Like the Marsalis family – Ellis, Branford, Wynton, and Delfeayo – the Jordan family, which
includes trumpeter Marlon, flautist Kent, and vocalist Stephanie, has contributed largely in
the shaping of the New Orleans sound.

Additionally, The French Ministry of Culture recognized Jordan as a Knight (Chevalier) of
the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1985. The French government bestowed him with their
highest artistic award for his drive as a visionary educator and performer.

This performance will take place July 13th at 8 p.m. at the Yellow Scarf, 741 Harris Street,
Suite E in Jackson. Advance tickets are available online for $25 and $30 at the door. Doors
open at 7 p.m.

The Yellow Scarf, a Cassandra Wilson concept, is a new venue owned and operated by
Ojah Media Group in Jackson, Miss. Conceived as a listening room, Yellow Scarf is a space
rendered to create a uniquely pleasurable environment where audiences experience music
and the rejuvenation that comes wherever real musicians make real music in real time.
