MISSISSIPPI: Blues venues/events slowly reopening/starting…

BLUES/MUSIC BARS/VENUES ARE SLOWLY RE-OPENING (see restrictions below*), BUT…

Due to the current national health crisis, all physical/in-person ‘live’ blues shows/festivals in March/April/May 2020 were cancelled, though many musicians and some venues continued the blues online via live-stream watch parties. Those are still continuing in June… even as our state’s venues and events start to re-open/re-start.

Clarksdale, Mississippi, is keeping its 365 days a year of ‘live’ blues and entertainment going online via watch parties. Please go to LiveFromClarksdale.org for schedule and links to watch.
(Re)Watch Clarksdale’s April 18th “Virtual Juke Joint Festival Celebration” (9 hours; 27 acts) for free via livefromclarksdale.org/jukejointfestival
(Re)Watch Ted Reed’s new “Juke Joint Festival Revisited” documentary film for free at https://youtu.be/HiPsS5spBMc
From Jackson, Mississippi… In place of its usual weekly Blue Monday event usually held at Hal & Mal’s in Jackson, the Central Mississippi Blues Society is hosting Watch Parties on its Facebook page. Every Monday night at 8:30 p.m., members post videos of past performances of the Blue Monday Band for viewers to enjoy. Go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/134758873254380/
